Normally I take part in Top Ten Tuesday, but I feel like I need a change because I’m always mentioning the same books each week. I’ve seen Top 5 Tuesday around quite a bit, and I loved the topic for this weeks top 5 so I had to join in!
Top 5 Tuesday is run by BionicBookWorm and each week there are interesting topics to talk about. The main reason I love this weeks theme about the reasons why I blog, is because I don’t think I’ve ever talked about my reasons for doing it – but now I can!
I love books
This is probably the main reason why I blog. I’ve loved reading since I was in infant school, and because I had selective mutism when I was younger, I spent the majority of my time reading. Reading has always been a safe place for me where I don’t have to worry about anything else, so I’m really thankful that they’re still such a huge part of my life and I can share my love of books with everyone else!
I want to go into publishing
My love of books has always been part of who I am and I couldn’t imagine going into a career that wasn’t centred around books. I would love to release my own book one day, but I don’t really have the imagination or confidence to do that, so publishing is definitely what I want to do. There are so many amazing books out there, and I would love to someday be a part of the publishing process.
To talk about books
A lot of my friends don’t read, or don’t read as much as I do, so I never have anyone to talk about my favourite books to. Ever since creating this blog, I’ve been able to talk about books, recommend books (basically fangirl all the time), and discover new books that I never would have picked up without other blogger’s recommendations.
A place to relax
I created this blog when I was in my first year of Uni, where I thought I knew all about stress until I started third year – I won’t even talk about how much I’m stressing about third year. My blog has always been a place that I don’t have to worry about anything, I can log in and focus on books instead of everything going on in my life. I’ve never felt any pressure when it comes to blogging, and I’m free to talk about whatever I want.
To learn new skills
I feel like this is probably a weird reason for why I blog. I’ve already mentioned that I’m a student, but I’m a student with bad planning skills, bad organisation and bad time management. I didn’t originally create my blog to help me with this intention but somehow it’s really helped. I plan my blog posts and dedicate time to writing them which has encouraged me to do the same for university assignments. I’ve not completely mastered these skills, but they’re really helping me and I’ve definitely noticed a difference, particularly in the last year.
