It’s always nice every now and then to talk about books that I didn’t enjoy that much, which is why I love this week’s Top 5 Tuesday topic so much!

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Everyone raves about this book and the rest of the series, so I was really excited when I first started reading it. However, when I read it I just thought it was so boring and I struggled so much to finish it.
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
I had so many issues with this book when I read it, it just fell really flat for me. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and I felt like the romance part of the book was happening way too quickly. It’s definitely put me off reading any of the authors other books, even though I’ve heard they’re great, I just can’t bring myself to read them in case I don’t like them as well.
Poison Study trilogy by Maria V. Scynder
I’m so sad about disliking this trilogy because I really wanted to love it. I really enjoyed the first book and I was so excited to continue on with the series, but I regret it so much. It just took a completely different turn which I didn’t really like, and I found so many of the characters unbearable. It’s such a shame because I know so many people love this series and I really wanted to as well!
One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus
I had really high hopes for this book because the synopsis made it sound amazing, but unfortunately it was another one that fell flat for me. I found it way too stereotypical and full of so many tropes, and I really, really, really hated the ending. Even though I didn’t enjoy certain aspects of it, I did enjoy the authors writing style, so I’m looking forward to her future books.
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
I actually really enjoyed this book when I first read it and I think I ended up giving it 5 stars. However, after a couple weeks of reflection, I realised how wrong I was. I think all of this was due to the ending which was so bad, it was just so ‘meh’. I did enjoy the majority of the book, it’s just a shame about the ending.
Oh! I looooooved One of Us is Lying 😉 The beauty of these memes is to show that a book is always a personal experience 😉

Totally agree! I always love hearing the reasons why people loved/hated a book.

I didn’t quite fall out of love with the Poison Study series, but it’s not one I’m likely to return to, unfortunately. I loved Poison Study, liked the more in-depth world-building in Magic Study, but Fire Study annoyed me. Rather, Yelena annoyed me. I fell like the third book was just all about her not being able to move past fear and doubt and so everything else fell flat for me. Have you read any of the spin-off books (there are approximately thousands, I think)?

I struggled to connect with Yelena too which was probably part of my issues with it. I’ve seen them around but I’m too scared to read them in case I don’t like them haha! Have you read any of them?

No, because I feel the exact same way! Haha – Maybe one day my curiosity for them will get the best of me.

Hopefully they’ll be better than the other books haha!

I agree with Everything Everything. That ending was horrible 😦

Have you read “I’ll give you the sun” by Jandy Nelson? I think it is a beautiful book. Compared to this I didn’t like “The sky is everywhere” much but that book was pure beauty ❤

I haven’t read it, but I’ve been tempted to get it because I’ve heard it’s amazing! I’m just a bit wary because I didn’t really enjoy The Sky is Everywhere.

If you didn’t like the style of the author then don’t read it but if the problem was the story and characters then let me assure you the characters in “I’ll give you the sun” will be one of the most brilliant characters you’ve ever read ❤ I'm just so much in love with that book. 'The sky is everywhere' kinda disappointed me because I had such great expectation after reading "I'll give…"

I do think it was a lot to do with the story and characters in The Sky Is Everything. I’ll definitely look into I’ll Give You The Sun and hopefully I’ll enjoy it!
