The Nope Book Tag!

I am so far behind on my tags, but I will catch up eventually! I was tagged by the lovely Orangutan Librarian a few months ago to do this tag, and it looks like so much fun – thank you for tagging me!

NOPE. Ending: A book ending that made you go NOPE either in denial, rage, or simply because the ending was crappy.

This ending made me feel a lot of things because it was such a let down. I really enjoyed the majority of this book but the ending could have been so much better, it had so much potential!

NOPE. Protagonist: A main character you dislike and drives you crazy.

At this point I’m not really sure why I’ve continued with the Throne of Glass series, because I cannot stand Celaena/Aelin/whatever her name is, or Rowan. I’ve dedicated so much time to this series though so I’m determined to finish it, I just can’t stand those two characters.

NOPE. Series: A series that turned out to be one huge pile of NOPE. after you’ve invested all of that time and energy on it, or a series you gave up on because it wasn’t worth it anymore.

I was only one book away from finishing the series, but I’m just not interested anymore. I picked it up after I’d heard how good it was, and whilst I agree it was good, it’s just not something that I’m interested in anymore.

NOPE. Popular pairing: A “ship” you don’t support.

I didn’t want to mention the same series twice in one post but it has to be done. I do not like Rowan and Aelin together at all, I don’t like either of them individually but together, they are unbearable. I don’t understand the point of making a love triangle in the first couple of books, and then creating a whole new character for Aelin instead.

NOPE. Plot twist: A plot twist you didn’t see coming or didn’t like.

I have literally just finished this book and there are quite a few twists that have left me so surprised. It’s an incredible book and I really recommend it, I have no words for how amazing it is!

NOPE. Protagonist action/decision: A character decision that made you shake your head no.

I am still so conflicted about this novel because on the one hand I did like it, but then again it’s so messed up. It’s hard to explain without ruining the book but as soon as I read the ending, I was shaking my head for ages because of a certain character.

NOPE. Genre: A genre you will never read.

I’m always open to reading any genre, but I always tend to avoid horror books. I don’t do well with horror at all.

NOPE. Book format: Book formatting you hate and avoid buying until it comes out in a different edition.

I’m not really that picky with my books, as long as they’re a good price that’s all that matters to me!

NOPE. Trope: A trope that makes you go NOPE.

This is between girl hate and insta-love, both of them I dislike so much.

NOPE. Recommendation: A book recommendation that is constantly hyped and pushed at you that you simply refuse to read.

Again, I’m open to reading anything, but I’ve avoided the Shatter Me series for so long because it was so hyped up (and I could never get hold of the books in the UK). I’ll probably get around to reading them eventually, because I am quite interested in the series.

NOPE. Cliche/pet peeve: A cliche or writing pet peeve that always makes you roll your eyes.

Rushed endings! Some books are incredible but the endings are so rushed, or badly written, so they don’t live up to their potential. I just want authors to take time with their endings so that they can be just as incredible as the rest of the book was.

NOPE. Love interest: The love interest that’s not worthy of being one. A character you don’t think should have been a viable love interest.

Rowan. I didn’t want to mention him for a third time, but I had to.

NOPE. Book: A book that shouldn’t have existed that made you say NOPE.

I could list a lot of books, but I don’t necessarily think any book shouldn’t have existed. Everyone has different tastes and there are always people who will like books I don’t like and vice versa.

NOPE. Villain: A scary villain/antagonist you would hate to cross and would make you run in the opposite direction.

Queen Elara probably isn’t the scariest villain to have ever existed, but I’m more scared of her powers than anything else.

NOPE. Death: A character death that still haunts you.

Will Herondale should have lived forever.

NOPE. Author: An author you had a bad experience reading for and have decided to quit.

At this moment in time I’d say Maria V. Snyder because I really didn’t enjoy the Poison Study series. But never say never!

  1. Ah shame that you went off the Obsidian series- I heard it went really off track, so I can’t be bothered in finishing it. Yeah I really agree about the Aelin/Rowan ship- I just don’t care for it. Oh gosh yeah I really get what you mean about november 9. Great answers!
