Top 5 Tuesday: Series I Won’t Be Finishing

Happy Tuesday!

I’m the type of person who has to finish a series, even if I don’t enjoy it anymore. I think it’s because I usually invest so much time into it that I need to finish them to make it worthwhile. But recently I’ve kind of changed my mind. There’s so many books out there that I want to read, so I’m trying to give up on certain series. This list was quite difficult to make because I struggled to think of what series I’m giving up on!

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, if you’re interested in participating or checking out Shanah’s blog, click here!

The Chronicles of Ixia by Maria V. Snyder

Choosing to stop with this series was probably the easiest decision I’ve ever made. I loved the first book so much, but it just went downhill from there. I’m not really sure how many books are left in the series, I only read three, but that was enough for me.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I keep trying to tell myself that I’ll read the rest of this series eventually, but I think I’ve finally come to the conclusion that it will never happen. These books are huge and take me forever to read, and even though I really enjoyed the first book, I don’t have the motivation to continue. I’ve read the second book and attempted to read the third book, but I’ve never come anywhere near to finishing it, it got kind of boring and repetitive, so I think I’ll be sticking with the TV show.

The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I think I was one book away from finishing this series, but I’m just so over aliens haha!

Frostblood by Elly Blake

I was really excited to read this book, but I was really disappointed when I read it. It’s usually rare for me to decide so quickly that I won’t finish a series, because I normally feel like I have to read the second book, but this book just didn’t do anything for me. I felt like I’d read it before and there just wasn’t anything that hooked me.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I didn’t actually enjoy this book that much when I read it and I kept meaning to give it a second chance because of all the good reviews. But it’s been 3 years since I read this book so I think it’s safe to say that I won’t be continuing on with the series!

What are some series you won’t be finishing?

  1. The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series…….. It almost made my list as well. I enjoyed the first book. Karou at the end made me a little annoyed but it was understandable. But book two made me literally fall asleep multiple times. I only have one book left to go…. I don’t know if I can force myself through it!
Thanks for participating, added you to the list 🙂

    1. I always find that trilogies are the hardest when deciding whether to quit a series or not. I always feel like I have to finish it if there’s only one book left haha! I’ve seen that Laini Taylor just released a companion novel to the Daughter of Smoke and Bones series and it’s been getting really good reviews. I don’t know if the last book will be worth it though haha!

    1. I don’t think I could put myself through reading anymore books set in that world haha! It’s a shame though because the first one was so good.
