2019 Reading and Blogging Goals!

2018 was incredible year for me in terms of reading and my blog. I hit 500 followers, participated in my first ever blog tour, got approved for some ARCs on Netgalley, got approved to be a Book Depository affiliate, and I continued to be a part of the amazing online book community!

I don’t often talk about my personal life on here, but at times there were some incredibly difficult things going on behind the scenes. But there’s also been some amazing things that have happened, I graduated University with a 2:1, started my Masters in creative writing, travelled more (around the UK), got a job that has been so much fun, and for what feels like the first time ever, my anxiety hasn’t held me back at all!

I want to continue to push myself in 2019 after seeing everything that I was able to do in 2018, I want to do more. Although the title of this post is about my reading goals, I also want to include some personal goals that I really want to achieve as well.

1) Travel abroad

aka I really want to go to Italy and I hope that this year will finally be the year.

2) Finish my Masters degree and say goodbye to education forever

As much as I have loved my time at University, I am so excited to be done with it and see where my degree will take me!

3) Write a book (even if it’s bad)

This is a goal that I am aiming so high for this year. I’ve loved writing so much over the past couple of months and I have so many ideas for books, it’s just impossible to know which one to start with. But this year, I’m going to set aside the time to finishing at least one idea.

4) Learn to drive

This is a goal that I have set myself every year since I turned 18… and 4 years later, I still can’t drive. It’s just so incredibly expensive but I’ve been saving up quite for a long time, so hopefully this year will be the year.

1) Read 75 books

Even though I read 63 books last year, I really want to push myself even more to finish close to 80 books. I’m hoping that the higher goal that I set will encourage me to keep on track with it (fingers crossed)

2) Branch out with my reading and try new genres

Once again, this is a goal that I set myself every year because it’s always good to try new things! Last year, I discovered that I really like mystery/thriller books, despite thinking I didn’t, and I’m so happy that I made myself try new books. This year, I want to do the same again and try some non-fiction books.

3) Participate in more readathons/challenges

I attempted the POPSUGAR reading challenge last year, and I kind of forgot about it (entirely my own fault). But, this year I want to do better. I feel like the more I challenge myself, the more I’ll want to complete the challenge… and therefore tackle my insanely out of control TBR.

4) Be more active on social media and my blog

This is one goal that I am determined to complete. Towards the end of my last semester at University, I managed to get a temporary Christmas job, and on top of the job and Uni work, I wasn’t able to blog hop as much as I normally would have. I start a new job in a couple of days, and go back to Uni, and I’m worried that I’m going to fall into the same pattern of finding the time to write blog posts, but not having time to check out other people’s posts. I know I can do better and I will!

This is my motto every year.

What are some goals that you have set yourself for the year ahead?

  1. It sounds like you had a great 2018 – congratulations on your graduation! 2019 also sounds like some exciting adventures are ahead. I completely understand what you said about learning to drive. I have been planning to do it for years, but it’s so expensive and time-consuming so I haven’t done it yet either…

  2. Good luck and congrats on graduating! Graduating is so exciting and even though mine was 3 years ago, I always get the same rush of excitement when the day rolls around. 🙂

I also want to participate in more reading challenges! I just need to a little more research on them haha

    1. Thank you! I was a big bunch of nerves on the day because I had no idea what to expect, but it was so much fun!

Some of the reading challenges I’ve found so far look like so much fun, but I definitely need to look into them more before I commit to doing them 😂
