The theme for the December Book Box Club was ‘Rule the Stars’ and featured items from well loved sci-fi books. I don’t read a lot of sci-fi, but it’s my goal this year to try and read more, and I’m so excited to start the book of the month!
Here’s everything that was inside…
Cinder Candle by Elvenwick Candles
This candle is beautiful, and smells incredible too! It’s inspired by The Lunar Chronicles and scented with juniper, elderberries, orange, and cranberries.
Kady Purse by Rowatree
This little coin purse is inspired by the Illuminae series and will come in so handy for holding loose coins!
Red Rising Pencil by Book Box Club
I haven’t read the Red Rising series yet, but I think the pencil features a quote from the books haha. Either way, I know that the pencil will get used!
Astronaut Bath Bomb by Druid and the Witch
As soon as I opened the box, this was the first thing that I could smell, so I went digging for it until I found it haha. It’s a really fresh scent which I love – and it’s shaped like an astronaut which is so cool!
2019 Calendar by Book Box Club
This features 12 pieces of artwork from various designers and it’s such a lovely, and useful, thing to have.
Lindley Hamilton has been the leader of the space station Lusca since every first-generation crew member on board, including her mother, the commander, were killed by a deadly virus.
Lindley always assumed she’d captain the Lusca one day, but she never thought that day would come so soon. And she never thought it would be like this—struggling to survive every day, learning how to keep the Lusca running, figuring out how to communicate with Earth, making sure they don’t run out of food.
When a member of the surviving second generation dies from symptoms that look just like the deadly virus, though, Lindley feels her world shrinking even smaller. The disease was supposed to be over; the second generation was supposed to be immune. But as more people die, Lindley must face the terrifying reality that either the virus has mutated or something worse is happening: one of their own is a killer.
