This week’s topic is all about celebrating our favourite badass female characters, and there’s so many to choose from. I tried to pick a mixture of characters who aren’t just strong in the physical sense!
Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm and each week there’s a different bookish topic to discuss. If you’re interested in participating, or checking out Shanah’s blog, click here!
The Nowhere Girls
Can you get anymore badass than the female characters in this book? They’re all incredibly inspiring and empowering, using their voices to inspire change and support each other.
Audrey Rose just screams badass to me. She will not stop until she’s solved a mystery, she doesn’t care about the gore from dissecting bodies, and refuses to let the men in society hold her back.
Izzy goes through so much throughout this book; from being involved in a political scandal due to her nude photos being released to intense friendship drama. But she never lets any of that hold her back. She uses comedy as a way to cope, but towards the end of the book, she begins to fight back and I can’t wait to see what happens next in the sequel!
I just recently read Papergirl, and I knew that I had to include Cassie on this list. She takes a great interest in the societal issues in her city and she refuses to let her age stop her. She does anything that she can to help out without complaining and I think that’s so admirable!
Clary is both strong physically and emotionally throughout the whole of the series. She’s thrown right in at the deep end and has to adjust to a whole new way of life, and she never loses focus of her goal: to save her mum. She’s definitely a badass character to me, as are all of the ladies in all of Cassandra Clare’s books!
