It’s May and I’m freaking out a little. We’re almost halfway through the year. That’s crazy to me. What’s even crazier is that I could have sworn I read loads of books in April… but I only read 2! When I think back to last month all I can picture is me with a book, reading. It must have all been a dream haha.
I also want to say a massive thank you to everyone because I recently hit 600 followers on my blog. That’s a crazy amount of people and I’m so thankful to each and every one of you!
Here are the 2 books I read in April…
A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
The month of April started off great because I picked up this book. I instantly fell straight into the story and couldn’t put it down. I had heard really great things about it and I knew it was inspired by Beauty and the Beast so I was excited to check it out. I loved the world that was created and thought Harper as the protagonist was great! She was fierce, determined and always looking out for other people which I really enjoyed. I’m still a little unsure about Rhen but that’s only because I feel like I didn’t really get to know him in this book – it felt like Kemmerer was only scratching the surface with him.
This is the first book in a series I believe so it will be interesting to see what direction the next book is going in.
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I don’t know where to start with this book. And I don’t know what to say other than I loved it a lot and I wished it could have gone on longer. All of the characters felt so real and the story felt real. Everything was amazing. I have no words for it. I’m going to stop typing. Please read it if you haven’t already.
Now, moving on to my reading challenge which actually went to plan for once! My challenge was to read a new to me author. I managed to do that with both of the books that I read! To be fair, I had set myself quite an easy challenge so if I hadn’t completed this one on time, then I would have been very mad at myself haha.
What will be challenge for May be then? Well… I think it’s about time that I focus on the other reading challenges that I signed up for at the beginning of the year; YARC, and Beat the Backlist. Ideally, I would love to read one book towards each of these so here’s hoping that I manage it!
