Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag!

This post, like many of my other posts, is coming a little later than I initially wanted. We’re now well over halfway into the year, with December only 4 months away (how insane is that????).

The books that I’ll be mentioning in this post are all ones that I read before July, just so I can pretend that I wrote this way back then, but just forgot to post this tag haha.

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2019

good girl's guide to murder

There’s been so many. Sooooo many. 2019 has been an amazing year for books so far. However, there’s been one stand out so far that I’ve not been able to stop talking about or thinking about and that’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. I’d like to give a little shout out to The Cruel Prince by Holly Black though because that was also an incredible book that I read and comes in at a very close second.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far

wicked king

This was one of two sequels that I’ve read so far and it stands out by a mile. The plot, the characters, and the writing are incredible and it’s enough to captivate you from the moment you start reading. I can definitely see why Holly is called the queen of faeries!

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

aurorarising

This list could go on and on forever because there’s too many books to choose from. But Aurora Rising has been staring at me from my shelves for weeks now so that’s the one I’m going with.

Most Anticipated Book for the Rest of the Year

Queen of Nothing

I wanted to pick a different book, but the truth is, there’s nothing that I’m more excited about than this one. I just can’t wait to dive back into the faerie world.

Biggest Disappointment

The Boy Most Likely To
I didn’t really have any expectations for this book, I just wasn’t expecting to finish it and just feel ‘meh’ about everything. Straight after finishing it, it went straight on my pile of books to get rid of, which says a lot really!

Biggest Surprise

Daisy Jones

I’d heard so much about this book that I thought it would impossible to live up to the hype. The unusual format also worried me a little because I wasn’t sure if that was something I’d enjoy. However, I was completely blown away by it. The characters felt so real, and I became so invested in their lives. It really was an incredible book.

Favourite New Author

Both of these authors are ones that I want to read more from ASAP. Holly is a debut author and I can’t wait to see what other books that she’ll publish in the future, no doubt they’ll be amazing. Taylor Jenkins Reid has published a few other books, one that I have on my shelf and plan on picking up very soon.

Newest Fictional Crush

There’s not really been any new fictional crushes which is very unusual!

Book That Made You Cry

ROMANOV

This is a retelling of Anastasia and I already knew what happened in real life, but it was still heartbreaking reading about it. The love that this family had for each other was beautiful to read about despite the tragic ending.

Book That Made You Happy

wholetthegodsout

This was bonkers and generally so much fun to read – it was impossible not to smile on almost every page. It reminded me a lot of the Percy Jackson books because of the mythology element and the humour.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought

I think the cover speaks for itself!

What Books Do You Need To Read by the End of the Year

Allllllll the books.

I’m not tagging anyone because I’m late in posting this – but if you’ve already done it, feel free to leave a link in the comments so I can check out your answers!
